Chapter 7: Different Points of View

Wow, talk about a sticky situation...
Drayco was trapped, stuck to the wall of the half-destroyed bank like a fly in a spider’s web. Or, more accurately, a half-dragon in a spider’s web.

“Hey, haven’t seen you before - you must be one of the new criminals in town. I’m your friendly neighborhood Spiderman, and... ”

“... you’re late.” snapped Drayco. “And I’m not a criminal!”

“What?”

“I didn’t make this mess. Well, not most of it, at least. Some guy who called himself ‘The Shocker’ was in here trying to rob the bank. I stopped him.”

“Oh? Then where is Shocker?”

“Lying in a pool of his own blood over in the vault.”

“What?!”
Spiderman ran over to the vault and saw the body of the fallen supervillain. He quickly ran back to where Drayco was stuck to the wall.

“You killed him! Why the hell did you kill him?”

“Of course I killed him. He tried to do the same to me. And he had already hurt enough people inside the bank.“

“That doesn’t mean he deserved to die.”

“And what would you have done? Told him to go home and make him promise not to do it again?”

“He would have gone to jail like every other criminal... and...”

“And you call yourself a hero? You and I both know that wouldn’t have made a difference. People like that just don’t all of a sudden start being good.”

“So you killed him. Because of who he was and how he acted.”

“No, I killed him so he wouldn’t hurt anyone else. Better one life lost than many.”

“And how does that make you any better than he was?”

“It doesn’t.”

“Exactly. You’re just as much of a criminal as he was.”

“I am not a criminal!”

“Yes you are, and now I’ll show you how I deal with criminals.”

“I’d like to see you try!”

“I’m not the one stuck to the wall!”

“Oh, you mean this?”
Drayco struggled for a second before bursting out of the webs and landing safely on the ground. He removed the few strands still stuck to him and flexed his wings.
“Now, what were you saying about capturing me?”

Spiderman stood in awe. There was no way that guy was strong enough to just pull his webs apart. The only other person he’d ever seen do that was Doctor Octavius, but his actuators made him stronger than anything else.

“Okay, so you’re pretty strong. Well so am I.”
Spiderman jumped at Drayco, launching a flying side kick. Drayco easily sidestepped the attack, and Spiderman continued until he landed on the wall.

“I don’t want to fight you,” said Drayco, jumping back at least ten feet with a thrust of his wings. “If you’re as much of a hero as I’ve heard, you’d understand.”

“That depends on who you heard it from. But no matter what you heard, you’re not talking your way out of this one. I’m taking you in!”

“Fine, I warned you... but don’t expect me to hold back.”

Spiderman shot out two strands of webbing, trying to ensnare Drayco. Drayco stepped in between the strands, and launched an attack of his own.

VALIGNAT!!

The fiery bolt caught Spiderman by surprise, but he still managed to avoid it, and it scorched the area where he had been. Spiderman leapt across the room to another side wall. Then he sprung off the wall, trying to hit Drayco with a roundhouse kick. The kick nearly connected, but Drayco blocked it with his left hand.

“My turn!”
Drayco grabbed Spiderman’s leg with both hands, and swung him around once before throwing him against the wall into the lobby of the bank.

The impact stunned Spiderman for a second, and that was all Drayco needed. Drayco made a single flying leap, and landed on top of Spiderman with his sword at Spidey’s throat.

“Some hero. I could kill you, but I won’t.”

“ugh... why...”

“You haven’t done anything to deserve it. You obviously weren’t trying to kill me. That’s how I’m different from that Shocker guy. I only kill when I have to to save my life, or someone else’s. That’s why I’m no criminal.”

“How are you... so strong?”

“Heh he, that’s my little secret.”

Drayco moved his sword away from Spiderman’s throat and back into its sheath. He stepped back and walked towards the “exit.” Spiderman got up and turned around, just in time to see Drayco take off.
Yay, I'm all moved into my new room at Drexel University.
Now if only my roommate wasn't so loud...

Oh well. Chapter 7 of my story, out for your reading pleasure.

It's a lot shorter than the others, but there's a reason for that. What happens next is the major turning point of the story, and I wanted that to be in its own chapter. That, and I think the incident in this story is important enough plot-wise for it to have it's own chapter.

Hey, this way I'll be able to get the next one out quicker.
EDIT:...or not...

I must admit, Drayco makes a good point here: If someone would just kill these bastards, New York wouldn't be in quite so much trouble all the time!

Or at least, just the unnecessary villains, like Shocker. Cool ones like Ock and the Lizard need to stay alive.

Sorry it took so long to get to this; I'm way behind on my comments!
